THE Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) has joined the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) and the country’s football community in mourning Richard Sios, “a proud servant of football”.
Football’s national governing body said in a Facebook post that the 36-year-old was a valued and loyal PMSA young man who had football in his heart.
“Richard has contributed immensely to the development of the young footballers in PMSA, especially with the team he associated with the University Football Club,” PNGFA said.
“We would like to convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to the immediate family, relatives and friends of the late Richard Ivan ‘Doc’ Sios, who passed away on Sunday.
“We have lost a young proud servant of football and a true son of PNG.
“One who had football in his heart. Football was his life.
“No words can fully express our grief and dismay at seeing this happen, we can only pass on all our thoughts and prayers.”
