PORT Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) Orange won the Southern Region Under-17 Youth Football Festival women’s division beating PMSA Green 2-0 on Sunday at Bisini.
Orange coach Miriam Lanta was pleased with her side’s effort over the course of the tournament (July 10-15).
Lanta said she expected at least half her side as well as some of PMSA Green make the PMSA development side for the Southern-leg of the Besta FA Cup (July 20-23).
Lanta, who is also a scout for PMSA, said they had already identified several players and would notify them this week.
“We’re already scouting players for the Besta development team for Port Moresby Soccer Association so I’m going to look at both teams,” Lanta said.
“I coached both teams but then I split them to take part in the tournament and I’m proud that both made it to the final with Orange winning the title.
“Most of these girls are playing in the PMSA U18 division and some in the premier division and I think half of them can make the Besta development team.
Lanta said she thought Oranges’ Catherine Mandoni was a stand out.
