THE Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) is kicking off its Easter Cup tomorrow with the aim to unite players over the long weekend, says competition manager Paul Karambi.
The tournament will continue on Saturday, with the play-offs and presentation to take place on Sunday.
The men’s division has 32 teams split into eight pools. The women’s division has eight teams split into two pools.
There will be four teams in each pool.
Shields and trophies will be up for grabs.
Karambi said the initiative used to be known as the Charity Cup.
“After the split in football with Football Federation of PNG from PNG Football Association, PMSA decided to come up with the Easter Cup. Last year was the first Easter Cup. We still have no corporate sponsor, but we have plans in place to expand the Easter Cup,” Karambi said.
“We just want to bring all the PMSA teams together to play and celebrate Easter through football.”
