PNC not involved, O’Neill says

THE People’s National Congress (PNC) party does not condone violence or enticing of elected members to join its camp, according to party leader and Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill.
O’Neill, made the comment following claims of  hijacking of National Alliance candidate and Ijivitari MP-elect Richard Masere
at the Jackson Airport in Port Moresby.
“I do not condone such behavior or any form of violence,” O’Neill said
“PNC does not condone enticing members of parliament.
“I can assure you that certainly PNC is not involved in this kind of attempts.
“Allow leaders to make their own decisions.”
Police Commissioner Gari Baki said he could not provide details yet as the matter was under investigation.
“It could have been rogue police officers or civilians with their own agendas and wearing fake police uniforms,” Baki said.
Masere was recused by Walter Schnaubelt, MP-elect for Namatanai open, and Allan Bird, MP-elect for East Sepik regional.
He sustained bruises and had a torn shirt from the incident.
