THE ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) Party is preparing well for next year’s general election, general secretary Edward Mike Jondi says.
“We are presently reviewing our policies and the party constitution,” he said in a statement yesterday.
“The revised policies and constitution will then be presented to the national convention of the party in October to be deliberated on and endorsed. This is in line with the requirements of the party constitution.
“It is also part of the ongoing discussions we have with the Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates on our preparations for the upcoming elections.
“We have a close working relationship with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates.
“We do as much as we can to keep them informed of what we are doing.”
Jondi said a breakdown in communication led to the PNC Party not sending an official to a workshop in Wewak, East Sepik.
“I met Dr (Alphonse) Gelu this morning and we both agreed there was a communication breakdown somewhere,” he said.
Jondi said PNC members and supporters respected the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates, including the work  it was doing to strengthen the political party system in the country.
“PNC believes political stability will allow our economy to grow and create opportunities for everyone, and a strong party system will enhance that,” he said.
Jondi said PNC’s revised constitution and policies would be submitted to the Office of the Registrar after it is endorsed by the party convention.
