THE XV Pacific Games have just began but it seems we are already halfway into them.

For Papua New Guinea supporters, it has been an exciting first week as Thelma Toua brought in the first lot of gold medals, followed by Ryan Pini’s contribution in the pool, as well as from other weightlifters like Morea Baru and Guba Hale who continued the haul.

Congratulations to all those who have won medals or put on spectacular performances in the first few days.

For the other Papua New Guinean athletes who have yet to start their competition, I urge you to keep your head on and be focused on the goals you have set before you for the past few years or months.

We all want to cheer for you as you go into competition with the best you have got.

We, your country folks, wish you all the best as you continue to hunt for more golds and if possibly take a chance at setting new records.

To our beloved 23 neighbouring nations, who are our esteemed guests from the other Pacific states, we also wish you the best and may you give your best when you take the field of play.

We wish you all the very best.

Be focused and go out and do what you have been training for all these months.

Go for it!
