AN old-time hit band, the Gwadus, left the country last Friday morning for Honiara, Solomon Islands, at the invitation of the Papua New Guinea community living there.
It is led by one of its original members and drummer Billy Aisi and is in Honiara to celebrate the country’s 37th independence anniversary.
It will be performing a number of gigs during the stay in and around town, starting at the Heritage Hotel car park.
The Gwadus later will perform at the Yacht Club and other venues and also on Independence Day, Sept 16, they will take the stage at the Independence Ball at the Heritage Hotel.
The touring party includes Aisi, Arthur Awai (lead guitar/vocals), Morea Arua (bass guitar/vocals), John Mase (rhythm guitar/vocals), Lou Miria (keyboard/vocals) and sound engineers Toka Aisi and Oala Arua.
The band returns next Monday.
