THE PNG business community are ready to meet with potential investors from Fiji.

Business council chairman Mel

Togolo told the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation confidence in the PNG economy had never been stronger and they were eagerly awaiting the Fiji trade delegation.

With the removal of tariffs on goods exported to Melanesian countries, they hope that the Fiji trade mission to PNG this week will be successful.

“It’s interesting that we note that a Fijian trade delegation will be in PNG this week with the prime minister of Fiji,” he said.

“I think it’s going to be an excellent opportunity for Fijian investors to show what they can produce and sell in this country.”

He said there had been a lot of activity in PNG lately and the visit by the Fijian business community would be another boost.

“We have a market of about seven million people, so there is a market for products from Fiji.

“There is already Fijian investment in PNG and also some trade between PNG and Fiji.”

Forty-one Fiji companies will be part of the trade mission to showcase and sell their products.

They return to Fiji on Saturday.
