THE Chinese Embassy in PNG is encouraging businesses to participate in a China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, next month.
Economic and commercial counsellor Liu Linlin said the fair would be held online from June 15 to 24.
For this session, all exhibition fees will be waived to cope with impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and help foreign trade enterprises to expand market and tide over difficulties.
The cross-border e-commerce platforms that participate in the fair-related activities will also be exempted from fees.
Companies from China and around the world will be invited to exhibit their products online.
Powered by advanced information technology, the fair will provide round-the-clock services for online product promotion, matchmaking and business negotiations.
On its internet-enabled international trade platform for quality and speciality products, Chinese and international businesses can place orders and cut deals without the hassle of travel.
“The idea of holding an online session of the Canton Fair is to cushion impact of the Covid-19 and ensure stability of foreign trade and investment,” Liu said.
“The business community in PNG is encouraged to participate in this event more deeply and actively, to find more opportunities with China as well as with all other countries and regions.
“The decision of holding online Canton Fair demonstrates China’s unwavering commitment to open its economy to world.”
