PNG eyeing positive start

HOSTS Papua New Guinea have a mammoth task ahead of them as they look to begin their Fiba U15 Oceania Basketball Championships campaign on a positive note.
Fiba Oceania was disappointed after Tonga withdrew from the championships at the eleventh hour .
The withdrawal has forced a revision of the draw, which now sees PNG taking on Fiji in the boys’ division at 7pm tonight.
Fiba Oceania director David Crocker arrived yesterday to join his officers Amanda Jenkins and Aldo Avinante to assist the hosts in running the championships smoothly.
The matches will be played in a round-robin format before Saturday’s medal playoffs.
In the girls’ division, PNG take on New Zealand at 5pm today.
The girls’ division has five teams — Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Samoa and Fiji.
The boys’ division has six teams — Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Samoa, PNG and Fiji.
Fixtures: Tues, Nov 4 – PNG v New Zealand (girls) 5pm, PNG v Fiji (boys) 7pm.
