PNG has fantastic economy: Company

AN accounting firm says Papua New Guinea has a “fantastic” economy – with many challenges yet so many opportunities.
KPMG PNG office chairman Mitchell Petrie made the statement on Monday during the firm’s 50th anniversary in PNG.
KPMG has three lines of services which included audit, tax, and advisory.
Its tax and advisory services are further divided into various service groups.
“I have been thoroughly impressed with the local practice. I am proud to be part of the local practice,” Petrie said.
“I’m impressed by the involvement of the community here.
“The hope of the PNG practice is to be a player, a significant player in the Pacific region.
“Papua New Guinea is one of the biggest economy in the Pacific region and has a significant role in the region and we see our role to be a mirror of that.
“The future for us is a Pacific role. We are also absolutely passionate about being a partner and a participant in the PNG community.
“Our involvement in the business community is via the confidence that we instil in the financial community and we invest in the PNG economy. Our role in to instil that confidence.”
