PNG Fashion Week promotes SMEs: Ting

THE PNG Fashion Week is a platform that showcases the local garment and textile industry, says Vision City general manager Anderson Ting.
“PNG Fashion Week has been actively promoting SME (small medium enterprise) through the local fabric and garment design industry,” he said.
“It’s about elevating, upgrading or introducing the local tailoring industry from conventional house sewn dresses business to a proud PNG brand name that earns a sustainable income.”
Ting said the PNG Fashion Week retail outlet, which was to be set up inside the Vision City Mega Mall, would also create a market for the local designs to be sold.
“Philma Kelegai (PNG Fashion Week managing director) after much persuasion has agreed to set up a Ms PNG retail in the view of my vision that this first retail front supported by Vision City would be a model for all future Ms PNG sales.
“The idea is to create a platform that aims to promote all these local designs and products and market it on behalf of the designer,” Ting said.
