PNG Garamuts get timely backing

BANK South Pacific (BSP) has shown their continuous support to the PNG Garamuts (U19), this time with apparels which include cabin bags, caps, polo t-shirts and water bottles as well as the mobile socks before their departure for the World Under 19 Cricket meet in New Zealand.
BSP public relations and communications manageress Rosemary Mawe said “BSP is proud to continue its support for cricket which is one of PNG’s fast growing sports.
She said during the presentation made outside the Jackson’s International Airport on Monday.
The PNG Garamuts left on Monday for New Zealand to compete in this year’s ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. 
The Garamuts qualified for their fifth World Cup appearance in New Zealand after finishing fourth at the ICC U19 World Cup qualifiers in Toronto, Canada last September.
This is the fifth appearance for PNG where they have played in South Africa (1998), New Zealand (2000), Bangladesh (2004) and Malaysia (2008).
The team will assemble in Brisbane for three  days of intense preparations with national director of coaching for Cricket PNG Andy Bichel before heading to Christchurch for three days to acclimatize to the weather and surroundings there.
PNG will play England starting next week in a warm-up match on Jan 11 and then play USA on Tuesday.
Then they travel to Napier on North Island on Jan 14 and play Bangladesh in their first pool match on Jan 16 while their second pool match will be against Pakistan on Jan 18.
The Garamuts will then play West Indies on Jan 20 in their third pool match.
If they finish in the top two in their pool they will return to Christchurch for the Super 8s which will run from Jan 23-27.
But if the Garamuts finish in the bottom two in their pool then they will remain in Napier and play in the Plate tournament from Jan 23-28.
