PNG Gardener cleans up for Clinton

National, Normal

THE PNG Gardener staff have been working hard to clean the city in preparation for US secretary of state Hilary Clinton’s visit today.
PNG Gardener, Justin Tkatchenko said on Monday that his staff had been instructed to clean the basic locations which Mrs Clinton would be visiting.
He said his staff had been involved in flower arrangements, landscaping and putting up decorations and banners to welcome Mrs Clinton.
“We are decorating all locations that would be visited by Mrs Clinton,” Mr Tkatchenko said, adding that NCD Governor Powes Parkop had emphasised the importance of giving a positive image of Port Moresby and the country.
Mrs Clinton’s visit today is sure to attract a large number of international media to cover the five-hour visit and Mr Tkatchenko  believed it is a great opportunity to show to the world what a beautiful country Papua New Guinea is.
“Every first impression always counts,” Mr Tkatchenko said.
“We are cleaning and maintaining the beautification to a very high standard as the PNG gardener always does.”
Mr Parkop, unfortunately, will not be available to welcome Mrs Clinton to Port Moresby as he away on a business trip in Australia.
However, he has asked his deputy, Miria Ikupu, who is also Motu-Koitabu authority chairman, to step in for him.
