PNG get 9-0 hammering from superior New Zealand

Normal, Sports

AFTER opening their campaign on a high note, PNG girls went down fighting with a 9-0 thrashing at the hands of New Zealand in the second game of the OFC U17 women’s championships at North Shore Harbour Stadium in Auckland yesterday.
Four quick goals in succession in 12 minutes got the PNG U15 girls caught off-guard making it difficult for them to fight back against their superior opponents.
Holly Patterson, who scored a hat-trick of goals, picked up her first in less than three minutes of play while Kate Loye scored the second.
Patterson collected double in the 9th minute before Stephanie Skilton scored in the 12th minute to lead 4-0.
In fact, PNG girls were no match for the much faster and bigger New Zealand opponents scoring goals at ease.
