PNG has lost a great man in Sir Brian

Letters, Normal

I FIRST heard of Brian Bell back in Mt Hagen in 1998.
It was a big store which was well stocked with a variety of goods and employed many people.
During those days, it served and sustained a lot of people within the highlands region, and that has continued to today.
My uncle worked there and he would come home armed with food from his pay package and he would help pay our family’s food and school fees.
He would speak highly of the late Sir Brian Bell in the business industry and his sheer determination and commitment to achieve bigger and better things for the business sector and the country as a whole.
Over the years, I have found the stories from my uncle were true.
I strongly believed that Sir Brian had contributed hugely to the country’s economy and its growth until his death.
The Brian Bell group of companies has contributed a lot and will continue to contribute extensively to churches, youths, hospitals, education, agriculture, etc.
Without the help of Sir Brian’s companies, my uncle would have been unemployed and I would not be able to attend school and be employed today.
Sir Brian was a great man who touched lives of many directly and indirectly.
May he rest in peace.
