THE Papua New Guinea Hockey Federation will be hosting a two-day workshop for umpires, coaches and technical officials at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby on Saturday.
President Kaluwin Potuan told The National that 50 participants across Port Moresby, Lae, Kimbe, Rabaul and Manus were confirmed to attend the programme.
He said the Oceania Hockey Federation president Clare Prideaux and secretary-general Bob Claxton would be attending the workshop.
It is to update umpires, coaches and technical officials of the latest developments in the sport in terms of rules and skills.
“It would be a great opportunity for the participants not only to learn the rules and technicality of the game but also to share ideas and network among themselves,” Potuan said. “It is also good for the sport across PNG. These participants will bring what they learn that would have an impact on their respective competitions.”
He said the pair would also run a junior programme.
Forty children between the ages of five and 15 are expected to take part in the programme to learn new drills and hockey skills.
