PAPUA New Guinea has been described as the “last adventure in the world” and a world-class adventure destination.
Charlie Lynn, parliamentary secretary for veteran affairs in the New South Wales parliament in Australia, made the remark during the launch of the Kokoda70 “Honouring their Legacy” website to honour the deeds of the “Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels” during World War II.
The website is www.kokoda70.org.
He said Kokoda70 honoured the friendship, sacrifice, courage and endurance shown during the war.
Go live: Jan 1, 2012 – is to commemorate fallen PNG heroes during the 70th anniversary, next year.
It will also create a flying billboard on the side of Air Niugini’s Boeing 767 which will show the map of the Kokoda Track.
It is to create awareness of the iconic trail and ensure that young Australians and Papua New Guineans learned about the bond formed 70 years ago.
Lynn is also the trek leader for Adventure Kokoda and has walked the trail 61 times since 1992.
He said Papua New Guinea was an interesting and challenging country which has thousands of cultures and languages with a selective adventure-based market.
He said many people wanted to experience what money could not buy and adventure tourism was a renewable gold only found in PNG. – The Fiji Times
