PNG joins Queen’s celebration

GOVERNOR-General Sir Bob Dadae and wife Lady Emeline were among heads of states and Commonwealth countries and the United Kingdom (UK) to help the Queen celebrate her Platinum Jubilee in London last week.
They attended a thanksgiving service in her honour at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.
The week marked the official celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary since her accession to the throne in 1952 to become the longest serving monarch and head of Commonwealth nations which also included as Head of State of Papua New Guinea.
The celebration included colour trooping and lighting of principal beacon by the Queen and a military flypast.
Sir Bob and Lady Emeline also attended the Platinum Jubilee concert and pageant on Saturday and Sunday following the celebration and are expected to return at the end of the week after meeting his counterpart from New Zealand governor-general Dame Cindy Kiro.
On Feb 6, the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years of service to the people of the UK and Commonwealth.
