PNG kickboxing squad named

 THE PNG Kickboxing Association has announced a 64-member squad selected from last month’s national championship in Mendi, Southern Highlands.

Newly crowned national champions Southern Highlands provide nearly half the squad numbers with 29 fighters – Mendi (20) and Gobe (9).

The large squad will supply PNGKA with a pool of fighters to choose from to represent the country at international tournaments this year.

Chairman of selectors Stanley Nandex said he was delighted that so many fighters had proven themselves capable of fighting on the international stage.

He thanked all invloved in the national championships especially major sponsor Curtain Clough Joint Venture and SHP police commander Teddy Tei for their assistance in making the tournament a success.

The squad is lead by Nandex’s elite talent in Laurie Hanku, Bonny Louise and Andy  Sam and also includes 11 female kickboxers.
