PNG men’s basketball side have tough task

PAPUA New Guinea men’s basketball development squad is expecting some tough opposition in their trip to Far North Queensland All Stars challenge set for Cairns, Australia next Friday.
They play their opening match against the Cairns select side next Friday before taking on the Cairns Taipans Academy on the following day.
The development squad will be rubbing shoulders against the Australians in both encounters.
The final leg off the assignment will be the battle against the Pheonix Basketball Club.
It will be an opportunity for the players to refine their skills and tactics to prepare for the Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia and other international duties in the near future.
Team manager Nick Daroa said the development squad is in their final leg of preparations before they fly off to Cairns next Wednesday.
The squad consists of young guns led by their experience campaigner Lawrence Lahari, whose wealth of international experience will boost his team filtered with young guns.
Lahari will be ably coordinating with slum dunk specialist Wally Parapa, and Eki Kendi to give a boost to the PNG boys in the challenge.
PNG men’s development squad is made up of Lahari, Parapa, Peter Davani, Sibona Kala, Veuga Taviri, Eke Kendi, Oti Bland Tony, Lei Banduru, Vele Rupa, Steven Siola, Stean Koiri.
The team is coached by Boyat Daroya and Moses Koiri as the assistant coach.
