A 45-YEAR-old truck driver has appeared in court over an accident in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt which killed two Papua New Guinean men.

Jeffrey Moyle, from Goomla in New South Wales, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death after a crash at Kellerberrin, 200km east of Perth, late yesterday afternoon.

Police said the truck towing two trailers slammed into the back of a car stopped at a rail crossing on Great Eastern Highway.

Western Australia police media spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said recently a man and his son, aged 54 and 21 respectively, both of Kalgoorlie, died in the crash.

“The prime mover allegedly failed to stop at the crossing and hit the rear end of the Holden Commodore forcing the vehicle off the road into nearby bushland and the car then burst into flames,” she said.

“The two men were unable to exit their vehicle and died at the scene of the crash.”

Moyle has been granted bail and will reappear in court on April 22.

Meanwhile, Papua New Guineans living in Australia confirmed through social network, Facebook, that the father and son were Kevin and Brian Paki.
