PAPUA New Guinea is on its way to fulfilling the Unesco universal education programme next year.
Vice-Minister for Education Ginsuat Siniwin said this on his return from Paris after representing the South Pacific nations in a week-long meeting.
The meeting was attended by 52 countries and focused on eradicating global illiteracy by 2015, promoting culture, preserving historical sites, history and sacred places.
Siniwin said the government was closer to implementing the introduction of universal education from elementary up to Grade 10.
