PNG Ports happy to fund Sepik Ironman triathlon

 PNG Ports Corporation Ltd (PNGPCL) is happy to be associated again with the biggest tourism and triathlon event, the Sepik Ironman in Wewak, East Sepik recently.

Chief executive officer Stanley Alphonse said the PNGPCL’s help of K8,500 as sponsorship showed the corporation’s was committed to promoting and developing maritime tourism and is part of PNGPCL’s community service initiatives.

“PNGPCL has been a supporter of the annual Sepik Ironman event which aims to promote sportsmanship and tourism in the province for the past several years,” Alphonse 

said.

He said PNGPCL acknowledged the support of the organisers and for the recognition towards the corporation’s sponsorship and participation.

The competition has been known as the biggest event in the East Sepik which brings the locals together with business houses for a fun-filled day.

This year, in its tenth year of been staged, the event attracted thirty teams for the prize money of ten thousand kina.

The one day event involved youth from within the province and also attracted teams from Tabubil, Manus and the Port Moresby.
