PNG Power Limited (PPL) has successfully built and commissioned a new dedicated feeder to supply electricity to the newly built Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby over the weekend.
Project manager Nime Siria said demand for electricity in the city continued to increase every day as new buildings were built.
“We are building a dedicated feeder for Hilton because the existing feeder that supplies Holiday Inn and Bishop Brothers and other existing customers is already exhausted. The capacity is full and we can’t supply Hilton through this existing feeder,” he said.
“That’s why we are building a new dedicated feeder for Hilton Hotel and other new customers that are coming up.
“I can say it’s a milestone achievement for PNG Power because we were able to deliver that project within 30 days.”
Siria said the hotel required about two megawatts. The new feeder they have constructed from Konedobu sub-station up to the hotel is around 10 megawatts.
“Hilton requires a minimum of two megawatts and is now powered on that dedicated feeder as we speak,” Siria said,
