PNG still has potential

your praise of Fiji as law-abiding (The National, Apr 27) is nice but a little misguided. While Fiji may not have the violence and level of corruption that are prevalent in Papua New Guinea, the country has had four coups and three constitutions since independence in 1970.
PNG is lawless in many aspects, but it is still a thriving democracy and a country with great potential.
