PNG to find suitable gift for Prince William’s son

 PAPUA New Guinea will look for a suitable gift for the new-born son of Prince William, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said yesterday.

O’Neill said this when congratulating the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their first child on Monday.

He said Papua New Guineans joined in celebrating the birth of the new prince, who is now third in line to the British throne, after his grandfather Prince Charles and his father Prince William.

“The royal birth has been warmly welcomed around the world, and nowhere will it be more warmly welcomed then in Papua New Guinea which proudly retains Her Majesty, The Queen as Head of State, and holds the Royal family with great affection,” O’Neill said.

“I will consult firstly my wife, and then my colleagues, on a suitable gift for the new prince. I am sure we will choose a uniquely Papua New Guinean gift which will be forwarded to London to be presented to the parents of the new prince.”

He said the people of PNG were pleased for Prince Charles, who had  a long association with the country.
