THE national men’s Under-18 football team leave today for Vanuatu where they will take part in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Youth Development Tournament. PNG remain positive for the Port Vila tournament.
“The boys are all excited and ready to go, the feeling is good in the team,” coach Anthony Pakakota told The National yesterday.
“The players are prepared to go and give their best.”
“The team are ready to travel and we would just like to go over and play some good football.” Pakakota, along with assistant coach Eric Komeng, have been tasked to groom a young PNG side in the build-up for the tournament, which starts tomorrow and ends on Aug 24.
PNG face Tahiti tomorrow in the opening match of the tournament and then meet Estonia on Sunday.
