PNG U20s get another 10-0 drubbing

THREE-time Under-20 women’s World Cup champions USA blew Papua New Guinea off the park, with a 10-0 thrashing in the final match of the Tri-Nations soccer friendly at the Sir John Guise Stadium last night.
Striker Ashley Sanchez and midfielder Marley Canales scored doubles while Taylor Racioppi, Katie Cousins, Kaleigh Riehl, Savana DeMelo, Ally Watt and Emily Fox contributed a goal each to get the Americans the big win.
The Americans scored three goals in the opening half through Racioppi and a double from Sanchez to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
They started the second stanza strongly as a tiring PNG side let in seven more goals.
Despite losing, the PNG U20s put on a much improved performance, with coach Lisa Cole saying she was happy with the hit-out. “That’s the whole point of these friendlies, so all-in-all we learned a lot from these matches,” Cole said.
