PNG and West Papua

Letters

HAVE we forgotten that Papua New Guineas and West Papuans share the same land mass, have the same skin colour and look?
Are we not the same people who have migrated to and from in the past?
If we have go back in time, we will know the true history of us and the West Papuans.
They work, live and inhabit the same terrain.
Their style of cooking, gardening, breeding animals and harvesting is identical to ours.
In our society we have this family tree of clan, tribes, cousins and immediate family members.
If one goes to war or tribal fighting, we under the family tree will support and defend ourselves.
Why not we do the same to our families in West Papua?
They are fighting a losing battle which they are not capable of winning.
They will need our support to win the fight.
I appeal to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, who is chairman of Melanesian Solidarity Group, to have West Papua included in MSG.
