PNGDF promotes female soldiers

DESPITE the criticisms and hardships faced in male-dominated professions, women are still gaining recognition in their line of duties.
Last Friday, the Papua New Guinea Defence Force Joint Task Force operating in Mt Hagen witnessed two female soldiers promoted to the rank of lance corporal.
Private Tina Thomas and Private Rachael Loplain were among 14  soldiers and officers who were promoted as a result of their outstanding performance during the election period.
Papua New Guinea Defence Force Chief of Personnel Col Mark Goina said the achievements were the result of the effort and commitment they put into their duties.
The rewards and promotions were done in two separate categories.
Three senior operations officers were selected for further studies overseas. They were Joint Task Force Commander Lt-Col Ezekia Wenzel, Hela province PNGDF liaison officer Major Opa Opa and joint operations communications director Major Tau Rupa.Lt Sarufa Eka was promoted to captain.
Goina said the soldiers were promoted because of their commitment and effort they had put into their duties.
