The 18 associations of the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) must sort out their compliance and governance issues, says president John Kapi Natto.
Kapi Natto was in Lae for the Lahi Soccer Association grand finals over the weekend.
“My plan this month and December is (to focus on) in-house work,” he said.
“We sent compliance notices to the associations.
“If an administration is not compliant, we breach a lot of things.
“So I am going to fix this from top to bottom.
“From May to June next year, it’s going to be a presidential visit to all the member associations.
“I’ll bring the general secretary, the vice-president, or technical staff, and a lawyer to each member association to promote awareness on governance and compliance.”
Kapi Natto said his goal was for each association was to sort out their compliance and governance issues to ensure transparency.
“I want to make sure the whole 18 member associations sort out their compliances and governance issues,” he said.
Kapi Natto said there were lot of issues to sort out and that PNGFA was discussing them.
He said financial constraints were another area that PNGFA was facing because Federation Internationale de Football Association (Fifa) had become tough on funding.
“It’s very tough, so I have to try to convince Fifa and the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC),” Kapi Natto said.
“It is like carrying the weight that was passed and we can’t fix that overnight.
“We need to have consultation with Fifa and OFC, so that our case comes to an end.”
But Kapi Natto said he was confident of helping PNGFA regain Fifa’s trust.
Meanwhile, Kapi Natto says there are a lot of improvements to be done at the PNGFA Academy at 11-Mile in Lae.
He said there needed to be checks done to bring the academy up to a standard.
“When we get the information from the manager, it will tell us what we need to do,” Kapi Natto said.
“Then we have to look at our budget to see if we are able to afford all these things, whether it be in accommodation or administration.
“We have to assess everything.”
