THE Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) and PNG Rugby Union have condemned the alleged attack on 2015 Pacific Games gold medallist Debbie Kaore.
A statement from the Royal Papua New Guinea Police Constabulary’s National Capital District and Central Command said officers had arrested and charged her partner Papua New Guinea Defence Force Lieutenant Murray Oa with one count of causing grievous bodily harm.
“Debbie is an amazing women, mother and athlete who has represented our country in rugby union (sevens and 15s) and boxing, winning medals for the country at the Pacific Games, including gold at the 2015 event,” PNGOC said in a statement following the alleged attack last week.
“Violence in our society and especially domestic violence against our Papua New Guinea women is not acceptable.
“Everyone needs to speak out and stop this from happening and support those who experience violence.”
Meanwhile, PNGRU said it would support the 30-year-old “through this difficult time”.
“Gender-based violence is a social ill that impacts the foundation of our society and families,” it said in a statement.
“Therefore, we appeal to everyone in rugby, the PNG sporting fraternity and the community at large to stand firm and say ‘no’ to gender-based and family violence.”

  • A coin has two sides, not one. Our laws have to have laws for two sides, not standing on one side and not seeing the other side.
We are born to take revenge, and it is part of us unless you are in heaven above or hellven below.

  • Actions happens because of reactions, “Laws of Gravity, and yes, also as Simiti had said A coin has two sides,” now law has to be also fair to hear the man’s side of the story. We know the law is fair and just, however the media and people had gone viral over the act of her partner, maybe it will be better to investigate the issue between the two and refer them for counselling. Police, Law and order will do little to solve marital problems, it is the couple themselves who have the power to solve their own difference and make their own decisions to live peacefully.

  • PNGOC and Rugby Union, are you guys promoting adultery in sports. Is this what you’ve been doing all this time. You should make your own investigations before going public as you are a governing body itself. Shame on you two’s…

  • The gold medalist’s actions provoke the action.

No one is a saint to hold back emotions & frustrations when being provoked especially in relationships.

    Both parties at fault.

  • justice has to prevail,

she deserve it. she has no respect to her husband.
she should be arrest as its agaist the law, as part of pornography. justice make fair decission
