THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) formally acknowledged for the first  time the support from corporate sponsors with a presentation last Thursday.
Interim administrator Ivan Ravu told the small group of sponsors that PNGRFL was fortunate to have corporate backers such as the Telikom PNG, Sun Engineering, SP Brewery, National Gaming Control Board and Coral Sea Hotels plus others who supported the game.
“The Kumuls brand is what attracts the sponsors.”
Ravu pointed out that to run the Kumul camp was a very expensive exercise.
“I want to sincerely thank all the sponsors who supported the PNGRFL and Kumuls in kind and financially,” he said.
As a recipient, Ravu said it was his task to ensure the money was accounted.
He has already prepared the financial report for the April to October when PNGNRL hosted major events last year.
He made a special mentioned to the Australian-based company, Sun Engineering, for coming at the 11th hour to support the Fiji-PNG match in Port Moresby last year.
Former Kumul and now the country manager for Sun Engineering, Mark Mom reaffirmed that he could not recall the PNGRFL ever making plaques of appreciation for sponsors.
