Tsaka cautions confederate winners to follow player eligibility rules at c’ship

CONFEDERATE champions Kui Raiders (Highlands), Lae Pirates (Northern), Takubar Brothers (New Guinea Islands) and Brothers (Southern) have been warned not to abuse player eligibility at next week’s national club championship.
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka said yesterday that the clubs were allowed only one Digicel Cup, SP Hunters or Kumuls player.
“He must be a registered player of that league,” he said.
Tsaka said only three players not from the club are allowed to play for the confederate champions.
“Let’s not abuse the player eligibility rules,” he said.
“Let’s expose untapped talent at club level.”
Meanwhile, Tsaka said the confederate champions were set for the Nov 28-30 tournament at the Lae Rugby League Ground.
“Congratulations to the four club champions following the elimination games in their respective confederates,” he said.
“You are the premier club and will be representing your confederates at the national club championship.”
Tsaka said the clubs would be advised of their matches after the finalisation of draws this weekend. “However I can advise that the format will see each club play two games each on Thursday (Nov 28),” he said.
Tsaka said the clubs would have Friday off.
“On Saturday (Nov 30), we’ll have the third-place playoff followed by the final to determine the national club champions,” he said.
Tsaka urged the confederate champions to submit the names of 21 players and three officials to Toksy Nema via email ([email protected]) today. Nema can also be contacted on 70906977.
“Let’s complete our domestic rugby league calendar on a high note with the national club championship in Lae next week,” Tsaka said.
