PNGSDP donates to Alotau’s Meri Seif Haus
The National – Monday, January 31, 2011
PNG Sustainable Development Programme (PNGSDP) donated household items to the Meri Seif Haus in Alotau, Milne Bay.
PNGSDP chief executive officer David Sode made this presentation last week after hearing an appeal by the Milne Bay provincial council of women for the victims of domestic violence.
The centre was opened last December by Digicel PNG Foundation but lack of household items has been hampering its services.
Milne Bay council of women president Didi Nepuega said victims had been coming in but owing to this, the council had been keeping them at their transit house.
Sode said this type of social need was everyone’s business to help out and their effort contributes a lot to this worthy cause.
PNGSDP delivered new mattresses, a fridge and a stove to the centre.
Nepuega said the items would be ready for immediate use.
Alotau MP Charles Abel attended the presentation and praised PNGSDP for their continuous support of such essential projects in Milne Bay.
