PNGSF Team 1 causes upset in PS netball competion

 PAPUA New Guinea Sports Foundation Team 1 nearly caused an upset against top team PNG Olympic Committee on Saturday in the premier division of the Public Servants Netball competition at the Rita Flynn Outdoor Courts.

These two teams who are among four other teams in the premier division battling for top spots played head to head in a very close match in the last games of round two. 

PNGSF who are ranked sixth on the ladder after round one and two games put up an impressive midcourt defence against the premier leaders PNGOC but were one goal short to level the score when PNGOC won the match at 18-17.

The other premier matches saw the second top team on the ladder Works Team 1 having a close encounter with fifth-placed PNG Power but was able to defeat them 17-12. 

National Fisheries Authority thrashed MedComm with an outstanding 23-18 score line.

PNGOC is leading the points tally followed by Works in second place, NFA in third place, MedComm in Fourth, PNG Power in Fifth and PNGSF in sixth placing. 

The results and positions of the teams after yesterday’s match were not available.

The weekend games wrap up round two of the PCNC. The semi-finals will commence on February 13 while the grad final is set for Feb  27.
