PNGTA hails Tere-Apisah on maiden title

The Papua New Guinea Tennis Association has congratulated Abigail Tere-Apisah, pictured, on her maiden International Tennis Federation Tour title.
Association president Hilary Wong congratulated Tere-Apisah after the PNG No.1 won the Singapore ITF Women’s 25K on May 19.
Tere-Apisah won US$25,000 (K84,300) and the title.
Wong challenged athletes to work hard and dedicate themselves to fully realise their dreams.
“Abigail should be very proud of her achievements as we all are,” Wong said in a statement.
“Like all stars and gold medalists would say, if you have a dream, follow it.
“If you have some ability, work hard on it.
“We know how hard Abigail has worked on her game.
“She is a role model for the youth of PNG and Oceania, who want to develop an interest in tennis or any sports.”
