THE Papua New Guinea Teachers Association (PNGTA) management committee has called on the association general secretary to refrain from making any media statements regarding the teachers’ affairs.

In response to The National’s front page yesterday, a senior committee officer, who spoke under anonymity, said the general secretary was on recreational leave and had no powers to approach the media in that regard.

The source said there were procedures to follow before going to the media.

He added that such statements must be approved by the union president.
