CLIMATE Change and Development Authority (CCDA) acting managing director Joe Pokana says he is confident the Paris agreement ratification (implementation) bill will be tabled in Parliament during the current sitting.
Pokana said CCDA funded the drafting of the bill in collaboration with Office of the State Solicitor and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.
“The bill was jointly submitted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Rimbink Pato and Climate Change Minister John Pundari to the national executive council (NEC)for consideration,” he said.
“The central agencies coordination committee (CACC) did a deliberation on it and referred it back to Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration for minor adjustments and resubmitted to the NEC for approval and then to Parliament for endorsement and enactment.
“I just confirmed with the Foreign Affairs Department that they have already submitted it to the NEC and we are hoping to have it introduced into the Parliament by the Minister for Foreign Affairs this sitting.”
