Police adopt zero tolerance for corrupt officers

Deputy police commissioner — administration Raphael Huafolo says police adopted a “zero tolerance” on corrupt and undisciplined officers.
He revealed that 250 police officers were dismissed from the force between 2015 and last year.
“The statistics are an indication of the police management’s commitment and seriousness in dealing with discipline problems,” Huafolo said.
“Corrupt and indisciplined officers will not be harboured as they have no place in the force.
“Since 2015, the focus of the police management has been on discipline and we will continue to maintain that as it is the core value of our profession.
“This is a direct response to concerns raised by the public that police were not taking action against its own indisciplined, corrupt and abusive officers.
“The dismissing of undisciplined, corrupt and abusive police is, however, affecting the Government’s intentions of raising the total number of police to 10,000 by 2018.”
