Police arrest couple over cigarette theft

A COUPLE allegedly in possession of 75 boxes of stolen cigarettes were arrested by police at their home in Tokarara in Port Moresby yesterday.
The Gordon minor crime unit conducted an investigation into the robbery of 160 boxes of cigarettes belonging to Cholai Wholesale at 2-Mile.
Officer in-charge Apollos Terry said his men picked up information of a certain vehicle selling cigarette inners around the city. They staked out at a number of locations before they came across the vehicle and questioned the driver, who led them to the Tokarara house.
“A couple were charged for possess stolen properties and brought to the Gordon police station, their son has been asked to surrender to police,” Terry said.
“We condemn the reward of K100,000 proposed Cholai Wholesale. This is our job to serve the people of PNG.”
