Police arrest driver for causing accident

RAMU police arrested a lorry driver for speeding and causing a road accident yesterday.
Looters raided and emptied the lorry, loaded with paints and thinners, belonging to Post Logistics.
Madang police commander Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the driver left Lae and was heading towards the Highlands Highway when the crash occurred.
Ramu police commander Insp Edward Alphonse said about four road accidents were reported weekly along the deteriorating highway.
He advised all motorists to exercise caution when using the highway and to adhere to the speed limits for their safety and to avoid accidents.
“We have to respect other road users when driving,” he said.
“Speeding causes accidents and we all know that.
“We have one life, so think carefully when driving. I commend the policemen who responded to the accident scene to arrest the driver.”
