Police arrest nine for breaching orders

MANUS police have arrested two women and seven men from Mokoreng village in the Los Negros local level government for consuming homebrew and breaching state of emergency orders.
Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the group were consuming homebrew and causing trouble prompting the ward councillor to report them to the police.
They appeared before the Lorengau District Court on Wednesday.
The court fined them K500 each.
In another incident, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped at Pityluh Island.
“The suspect was under influence of alcohol and allegedly committed the offence.”
