A PRIME suspect in last Monday’s Tang Mow supermarket robbery in Wewak, East Sepik, was arrested by police last weekend.

Provincial police commander Chief Supt Joe Poma said the man was intercepted by police in Aitape, West Sepik, as he was travelling to Vanimo.

He said the man and several others were allegedly drunk and boarded a dinghy from Aitape to Vanimo last Friday. They became rowdy at sea and the operator aborted the trip and returned to Aitape where the suspects were locked up at the police cell.

“Police in Aitape alerted Wewak police who went here and apprehended the main suspect.

“He is being interrogated at the Wewak police station with charges to be laid this week,” Poma said.

He said two other suspects were also apprehended and a revolver recovered by police.

Meanwhile, police have reported the brutal killing of a young woman in a West Yangoru village last week.

Poma said he was yet to be fully briefed but police in Yangoru were investigating the incident.
