THE police mobile squad 19 based in Kimbe arrested a suspect in the murder of a Chinese businessman in Biala, West New Britain, on Saturday, according to police.
West New Britain acting police commander Snr Insp Daniel Yangen said quick response by West New Britain Governor Francis Maneke to fund the police operation saw the arrest of the suspect.
He said the suspect should now provide information on others allegedly involved.
Snr Insp Yangen said investigations had started and the suspects were known to police and they would soon be arrested.
He said it was alleged that eight armed men went to the New Town Wholesale store and had an argument with people in the store and the owner went out to see what was happening and was attacked.
He said local police from Biala and the MS 19 were at Biala doing the investigation.
“I want the locals to assist the police with information of the suspects because they will not bring anything good to the community,” Snr Insp Yangen said.
He urged the communities to work together with police to make the communities and the province a safe place to live and conduct business and other activities.
