Police arrest wanted man in Madang

A MAN wanted for a string of offences including break-ins, bag snatching and other crimes was arrested by police officers on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old, of mixed Madang and Jiwaka parentage, was caught by police who had acted on a tip off from an informant who saw the suspect and his friends drinking alcohol over a two-day period.
Madang police commander Mazuc Rubiang said the initial report laid was because of the noise the suspect and his friends were making.
He said the man was identified at Mis village. When police moved in to arrest him, they found a homemade gun and marijuana in his possession.
Supt Rubiang thanked the informant for providing his officers information that led to the arrest of the suspect.
He said law and order was everyone’s responsibility.
Supt Rubiang commended those that had helped make the community a safer and peaceful place.
He also thanked the police for their prompt response.
