Police arrest youths for cultivating marijuana

 TWO youths in East New Britain were yesterday arrested during a dawn raid for cultivating marijuana.

Police had received a tipoff and conducted the raid between 4am and 7am at the Kereba Block, Vudal in Gazelle district. 

Police uprooted 74 mature marijuana plants.

Provincial police commander, Supt Anthony Wagambie Jnr has raised concerns over the rise in the cultivation of marijuana in ENB.

Police have stepped up their awareness campaign to help people understand the bad effects of marijuana. 

They are urged to continue assisting police by reporting illegal activities in their communities.

The two, Bruno Steven from Malaguna Three and Joe Marko Bokahave been charged and awaiting their court appearance at the Kokopo police station cells.

Police are looking for another man from Ratung who ran away before police could get to him.

Last month, police uprooted 222 marijuana plants at the home of a couple at Vudal.

The wife from Ratung village is awaiting her court appearance while her husband is still in hiding.
