Police boss approved probe in Chimbu
The National, Friday July 10th, 2015
Newly appointed Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Operations Raphael Huafolo said an outburst by Highlands Divisional Commander Teddy Tei in yesterday’s The National headed ‘Chief slams office attack’ was rather unfortunate.
He said the two officers sent from Port Moresby to Lae to investigate allegations, which Tei had criticised, was approved by the Police Commissioner.
He said lack of communication and observation of protocols by detectives assigned to investigate allegations of malpractice in the Chuave district administration had upset Tei.
Tei had lashed out condemning the action of the two officers sent from Port Moresby after they allegedly broke into the Chuave district treasury office on July 4 in search of evidence.
“I strongly condemn their actions and want an investigation to establish, who issued the orders for them to come to Simbu without my knowledge,” Tei had said.
Huafolo said the two police detectives and a representative from the Ombudsman Commission were sent by his office with the full knowledge and authority of the Police Commissioner.
