Police charge leader with sex offence

 POLICE have charged a Central councillor with sexually penetrating a young girl.

The councillor, 44, was apprehended, taken to the Boroko Police Station and charged yesterday.

Central provincial police commander, Laimo Asi said the victim had gone to the man’s house when her parents were in National Capital District.

He said that was when the alleged attack took place.

“Straight after the incident, the victim reported it to police, who investigated the case until he was apprehended in Port Moresby yesterday and charged,” Asi said.

The suspect was locked up at the Boroko Police Station and was scheduled to appear before the Waigani Committal Court for mention yesterday.
